GAME OF COURTS: Progress of litigation in American Jurisprudence.
We will learn how a case gets to the U.S. Supreme Court. Let’s study a case and find out when it can go to appeal. Is every case decided on appeal a precedent? When does a case go to state Supreme Court, and when to the United States Supreme Court? How do we address the Court of Appeals as opposed to the Supreme Court? Using actual cases, the rules of appeal, jurisdiction, and case precedence will be illuminated. Rules that apply to state court cases will be distinguished from those of the federal court system. This presentation will explore the legal concepts and related terminology in English and Spanish.
